Meet the Team

  • Lisa Podielsky

    OWNER/REHAB SPECIALIST

After moving on from a long career in emergency veterinary medicine. I became interested in animal rehabilitation. After the rehabilitation facility that I was working at was forced to close due to the Pandemic, I transitioned to providing mobile rehabilitation services, within the comfort of patients homes.

With the desire to do more for pets in my area requiring rehabilitation. The goal shifted to what was beyond what I could carry in my vehicle. And that’s where the idea for BARC came to become a reality.

Originally planning to open a smaller rehab based facility, I stumbled upon the new home of BARC. While touring the facility, i quickly noted the expansive space and began to think of what else we could offer to the canine animals lovers in the south shore.

My children, husband and friends all call me dog crazy so why not open a full fledged dog training and rehabilitation facility.

I am currently attending North Carolina State University and will soon graduate with my Certified Companion Animal Therapist (CCAT) Certification. The rehabilitation section of BARC will offer underwater treadmill, PEMF, red light therapy, canine massage, laser therapy, and myofascial manipulation.

    TRAINER: SPORT DOG FOUNDATIONS

I began training dogs in competitive obedience 25 years ago. I have trained and competed with two dobermans over that time. In 2016, we were honored to be ranked in the Top Twenty for obedience in all of the the USA and Puerto Rico.

About 10 years ago, I discovered agility and began training and competing in that as well. This past year I achieved the ultimate goal of Master Agility Champion (MACH) with my rat terrier.

In between obedience and agility, I have also trained and titled my dogs in conformation, having my first owner handled breed champion. As well as Nose work, barn hunt, RALLY, and FAST CAT.

I have worked under some AMAZING trainers and hope to bring all that I have learned over the years from these mentors to you and your dogs!

When not training or enjoying my dogs on the trails, I work as an Emergency Veterinary Technician. I am certified in the state of Massachusetts and certified nationally as an emergency and critical care specialist. Animals are my love and my dogs are my passion.

I will be teaching Sport Dog Foundations on Friday's starting In January. I hope to see you all soon at BARC!

    K9 NOSE WORK INSTRUCTOR

I started in K9 Nose Work® in 2017 with my 2-year-old Australian Shepherd. We initially tried Agility, Flyball and Dock Diving to channel her energy and drive, but all they did was add to her over arousal and build frustration.

We started K9 Nose Work® classes in January 2017 and never looked back. Pixie is a talented search dog and I learned so much along the way. I realized how much I enjoy watching dogs work, and the science of training and decided to pursue my CNWI. I have achieved the designation of Certified Nose Work Instructor with National Association for Canine Scent Work. I am also an approved ORT judge for NACSW and a trial judge and Chief Search Designer with United States Canine Scent Sports.

I have been a member of NACSW since 2017, and currently competing at the Elite level with my Australian Shepherd and just started odor with my Border Collie mix. Prior to starting on this K9 Nose Work journey with my current Australian Shepherd, I had another Australian Shepherd that enjoyed Agility and Herding. I also had 2 Shiba Inu dogs and a Rottweiler as companions.

I was also a competitive equestrian in the disciplines of Eventing and Dressage. I volunteered for CANTER New England and assisted in helping retired racehorses from Suffolk Downs find second careers after their racing careers were over.

    TRAINER: RALLY

    AKC Rally Judge since 2013

Rally is the perfect starting point for developing teamworking skills between your dog and yourself that will make you proud. My own Rally journey began with my two Pomeranians back in 2006 competing in AKC and ASCA events. They went on to rank as the country’s top second and third in AKC Rally, followed by my “Zoey” who became the first Pomeranian to earn her Rally Master Title. This led to competitions in AKC obedience and titling my six-pound Pomeranian through AKC Open for her CDX and successfully competing in Utility B (UD).

This led me to obtain an AKC Rally Judgeship which opened the door to judging opportunities around the country and meeting some outstanding teams. With my current team member, Haylo, a Miniature American Shepherd, we have proudly achieved our RACH Rally Championship Title and continue to train and show in Obedience.

When I am not training, judging, competing or giving Rally classes, you can find Haylo and I out hiking in the woods.

TRAINER: PUPPY/BEGINNER OBEDIENCE, TRICK DOG, FIT DOG, CGC

With more than 14 years of experience in the dog world I’ve been lucky enough to experience so many aspects of what it has to offer. I’ve been a member of several clubs such as the AKC, GRCA, and Yankee Golden Retriever Club. As a certified handler/dog team and instructor for dog B.O.N.E.S., an evaluator for the AKC, and an area trainer for PetSmart, I’ve spent the last several years not only training dogs of all ages and breeds but training those that want to become trainers.

I’ve worked with hundreds of pet parents and families, all with different wants, needs, and goals for their dogs. As a golden retriever owner and breeder, I’ve learned so much from working with my own dogs in a variety of areas. We compete in both rally and agility, have titles in obedience and dock diving, have champion golden retrievers in confirmation, and work as therapy dog teams regularly.

Besides my passion for working and competing with my golden retrievers, my goal is to help every pet parent build the bond with their puppy or rescue. I believe in training each dog based on their individual needs. My training is designed to give the dog a strong foundation in obedience and to grow from there, ensuring a lifetime of good behavior and an unbreakable bond! It’s not just your ordinary obedience training, my classes will show you how to think outside of the box, keep it fun and make a difference in how your dog sees the world.

I focus on teaching dogs to perform at their best, even amidst tough distractions and I am committed to enhancing the bond between you and your dog. I help to teach them and you, in an effort to make them a vibrant and loving functioning part of the family. The bond between you and your dog starts immediately - as should obedience training!

    TRAINER: COMPETITIVE OBEDIENCE

Dogs have been a major part of my life and obedience is my passion. I have been training dogs most of my adult life. To work as a team, one must get into the individual dogs’ head with a fun and positive approach. The pay off is an incredibly strong bond and sometimes some pretty ribbons.

I am an OT certified in animal assisted therapy. I have titled fiveDutch Shepherds in AKC, UKC, and ASCA in Obedience. Two of my dogs have gone on to Obedience Championships. For several years I have been a CGC evaluator and a 4H trainer. I am a past member of APDT and served on the education committee.
